Montpelier, France: A few doors and little more

We spent most of our time in Alès, the south of France, with our gracious hosts. But, on what seemed to be the hottest day ever, we managed to squeeze in a few hours in Montpelier…..

My favorite depiction (below) captures the beauty and vitality of this wonderful European city. Look at the overall composition, so much action sandwiched in…. the fountain, the clock… the indistinct people, awnings…. The colors are soft, muted, blended…. the peachy hue of the buildings, the pale blue sky (instead of true mediterranean blue), the variegated grey-green fountain, a snippet of the yellow car, a few slivers of red….. And I love the tiny droplets of water trickling from the fountain….

The bike through the building and the guy sitting on a stick are unlike you see here. A lot of history over in Europe. Good job to David on the photos!
